LIFE SUBSED at the Expo Jardim fair in Lisbon – 7-9 April 2022

Flora Toscana brought the LIFE SUBSED project to the Expo Jardim international fair in Lisbon.

The fair, which was held from 7 to 9 April, was attended by over 15,000 operators from the gardening and plants sector. This therefore represented a great opportunity to present the LIFE SUBSED project, its objectives and the expected results to operators in the sector.

LIFE SUBSED introduced to stakeholders – March 2022

In March 2022, the CNR of Pisa organized several meetings to present the LIFE SUBSED project to interested parties, who can play a pivotal role in the continuation of the project and the exploitation of the proposed solutions.

The Italian technical course of the LIFE SUBSED project – 3 March 2022

The technical course organized by the LIFE SUBSED project was a great success (here the program)!

The course took place in hybrid mode, with online connection and online / live visit to the demonstration sites of the LIFE SUBSED project.

About 60 participants took part in the course, coming from both the research field and the plant and flower production sector.

The consortium thanks the Italian Horticultural Society – SOI and the Association of Agronomists and Forestry Doctors – ODAF of the Province of Pistoia for their patronage and support to the organization.

LIFE SUBSED at MyPlant fair in Milan – 23-25 February 2022

The Flora Toscana team brought the LIFE SUBSED project to the MyPlant international fair, which was held in Milan from 23 to 25 February 2022.

Although the COVID-19 pandemic has impacted communication and dissemination activities, the resumption of fairs constitutes an unparalleled opportunity for the dissemination of the solutions proposed by LIFE SUBSED.

During the fair, Flora Toscana technicians illustrated the objectives, results and actions of the LIFE SUBSED project, gathering the feedback and interest of operators in the sector.

LIFE SUBSED meets Maria Chiara Carrozza – 21 February 2022

The group of researchers from the Pisa branch of the National Research Council (CNR) had the pleasure of welcoming Maria Chiara Carrozza, current president of the CNR and former Italian Minister of Education, University and Research.

The President Messa also met the team of researchers involved in the LIFE SUBSED project. During the visit various fronts for dialogue were opened, in particular on active projects and ongoing research activities but also on future developments, also in light of the new public investments planned with the Italian PNRR.

LIFE SUBSED and COP26: sediments and circular economy

CREA has signed the COP26 commitment for climate change and sediment management (Climate change and sediment management pledge), promoted and hosted by Navigating a Changing Climate and SedNet.

Dr. Stefania Nin, researcher at the CREA-OF in Pescia, was invited as a member of the SedNet WG on the topic “Sediments in Circular Economy” and as scientific director of the international LIFE SUBSED project.

The first Spanish workshop of the LIFE SUBSED project – 29 November 2021

The Miguel Hernández University (UMH), with the contribution of Caliplant Agro and the entire consortium, organized the first Spanish workshop of the LIFE SUBSED project, entitled “SUBSED: Sustratos sustainibles para la agricultura a partir de sedimentos marinos remediados dragados: de puertos a macetas” (here the program).

The event was held on Monday 29 November 2021 as a bimodal workshop (participation possible both online and live): the first part of the meeting was dedicated to oral presentations, while the second part was dedicated to a visit to the experimental site managed by UMH within the framework of the LIFE SUBSED project.

In addition to the partners directly involved in the LIFE SUBSED project, the workshop hosted the presentations of some important guests: the LIFE SUBSED project consortium thanks Dr. Miguel Agulló (President of COITAGRA) and Prof. Edgardo Giordani, Professor of the University of Florence and coordinator of the LIFE HORTISED project (whose results are the foundations of the LIFE SUBSED project).

At the end of the oral presentation session, a discussion session was held between the participants and the representatives of the LIFE SUBSED consortium, and the effectiveness of sediment reuse for plant cultivation and the associated environmental benefits were discussed.

LIFE SUBSED at the International Floriculture Trade Fair IFTF2021 – 3-5 November 2021

Flora Toscana brings LIFE SUBSED to the IFTF2021 in Netherlands!!

The Cooperative took part in the International Floriculture Trade Fair IFTF2021 which was organized by HPP Exhibitions and held from 3 to 5 November 2021 in Vijhuizen at Expo Haarlemmermeer.

With its 10th edition (after a forced pause in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic), the fair promotes the trade of flowers and potted plants, aiming at the same time at increasing their production and consumption.

IFTF is an international platform where developments and trends in the horticultural sector are discussed, and represents a valid opportunity to promote the contents and results of the LIFE SUBSED project and its circular strategy.

 

LIFE SUBSED at Ecomondo 2021 – 26-29 October 2021

The CNR-IRET of Pisa took part in the Ecomondo international fair, which was held in Rimini from 26 to 29 October 2021 (here the program).

Ecomondo is the reference event in Europe for the ecological transition
and the new models of circular and regenerative economy: the perfect opportunity to present the objectives, actions and results of the LIFE SUBSED project. The CNR researchers conducted an extensive dissemination campaign, presenting the LIFE SUBSED project to the visitors of the fair and distributing the promotional material prepared for the occasion.

LIFE SUBSED at the symposium “Presente y futuro de la agricultura de la Vega Baja del Segura” in Orihuela – 22-23 October 2021

Caliplant and UMH took part in the symposium “Presente y futuro de la agricultura de la Vega Baja del Segura” which was held on 22 and 23 October in Orihuela (Spain).

The Miguel Hernández University presented the LIFE SUBSED project with an intervention by Dr. Pilar Legua Murcia who, later, conducted a guided tour together with Dr. Dámaris Núñez Gómez at the experimental site of citrus cultivated on sed-based substrate.
